Narika is a non profit organization in the East Bay area that provides culturally responsive support and services to domestic violence survivors of South Asian descent. Embracing the notion of survivor empowerment, the organization's dedicated staff and volunteers work with a variety of community partners and offer a continuum of services and resources ranging from domestic violence advocacy, legal referrals, crisis counseling, safety planning, case management, economic empowerment to financial literacy.

Director of Development
$40/Hr

Location: Fremont, CA
Job Summary: Work closely with the Executive Director to design and execute a robust, diversified fundraising ecosystem for Narika.
Essential Functions:
Fundraising Strategy: Design and implement a comprehensive development plan that includes individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and annual appeals. And participate in the Board Fundraising and Development Committee.
Donor Stewardship: Build and maintain long-term relationships with current and prospective donors. This includes identifying potential major donors and moving them through the "gifting process."
Social Media and Communications Oversight: Plan and manage Narika’s social media and newsletter communications, prepare press releases
Community Collaboration: Create meaningful relationships and collaborations to enhance Narika’s visibility and opportunities to present Leadership/Board;Represent Narika at key events
Event Oversight: Plan and manage signature fundraising events like galas, auctions, and community engagement activities.
Leadership & Team Management: Recruit, train, and mentor Community Engagement Manager and other volunteers to support development activities
Board Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to align fundraising goals with the organization’s mission and report on progress.
Data & Operations: Manage donor databases (CRM) to track contributions, analyze giving trends, and ensure timely gift acknowledgments.
Any other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or nonprofit management
Experience: 3–7 years of professional fundraising experience, with a proven track record of securing major gifts or hitting revenue targets.
Certification: A CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) credential is preferred.
Skills: Strong storytelling and public speaking abilities, proficiency in CRM software (like Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or Bloomerang), and excellent project management skills.
Schedule:
20 hours a week
Location: Fremont office and remote combined, flexible
