VOLUNTEER TRACKS:

PLEASE NOTE: If you have recently experienced or are involved in a domestic violence situation, we recommend you not volunteer until you are emotionally prepared to do this work

HELPLINE AND SUPPORT SERVICES

Volunteers who wish to work on the helpline and/or help callers with direct services are required to complete a 40-hour Domestic Violence training with one of our partner organizations to get certified as a California domestic violence counselor.

Please contact Hannah at narika@narika.org for a list upcoming trainings. You should contact the agencies directly and register by their deadline.

SOUTH ASIAN ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT (SEED ) PROGRAM:

SEED volunteers are also required to complete the 40-hour DV training before participating.

Classes run every Saturday from 11-1pm at varying locations throughout the year.

ONGOING COMMUNITY OUTREACH , ENGAGEMENT & MOBILIZATION:

Grocery Store Outreach: In an effort to raise awareness of Narika's services, we are reaching out to various members of the community who frequent South Asian markets. Grocery stores have traditionally been a great place for us to connect with the broader community and we are looking to take that to another level. Fliers and posters with Narika's information on them will be distributed to the grocery stores. We hope to reach women from all segments of the South Asian community via this effort.

If you don't have much time but want to get involved with Narika, this is the perfect opportunity for you. We ask that you connect with Narika every 6-8 weeks (up to 6 month commitment) to arrange to pick up the fliers and listings of grocery stores and deliver them to your local South Asian markets.

This project is a great way to get to know Narika staff and stay connected to our work. For more information, please contact narika@narika.org or call 510.444.6068

SPECIAL PROJECTS:
If you have special expertise, talents, or resources that you would like to use in a specific project to benefit Narika's work and clients, please discuss your ideas with our Outreach/Volunteer Coordinator.

Please contact our office if you are interested in any of these ideas or have ideas of your own. Narika is a certified non-profit organization. All donations to Narika are tax-deductible.
