NARIKA’S HEAL PROGRAM

Health, Enrichment & Access to Life Skills (H.E.A.L) Program

Understanding of community needs and wellness are the key to creating an environment that is positive and thriving. The Bay Area’s demographics provide an unique opportunity in community outreach to provide a platform for immigrant population to access culturally sensitive services as well create a support system and understanding of their challenges and obstacles.

The H.E.A.L Program is designed to create a platform that will make it possible for immigrant women, specifically from South Asia to interact, exchange and support each other. The Program integrates wellness and enrichment workshops. For the year 2018- 2019, the following workshops will be facilitated :

  1. Assertive Communication & Boundaries
  1. Physical Self-Defense

The workshops will be facilitated by experts in the respective fields that will lead and encourage discussion, debate and dialogue about empowerment, domestic violence and role of community in overall prevention efforts. The workshops will provide the opportunity to be agents of change in the community and support women who might be actively experiencing challenges, abuse or domestic violence.

While understanding and identifying domestic violence will be the underlying theme, the participants will explore creative ways of self-enquiry, mindfulness and expression through the workshops. The program duration is 12 weeks, once every week.
