South Asian Parents/Caregivers Heal and Learn
SAPHAL (South Asian Parents/Caregivers: Heal And Learn; transl: ‘success’) is a violence prevention program for parents & caregivers that focuses on building healthy relationships with our youth, our families & communities. SAPHAL was created by South Asians, for South Asians.
SAPHAL features five core modules which form the basic building blocks of healthy relationships: understanding the developing brain, emotion regulation, self-compassion, boundaries, & praise and apology.
SAPHAL also offers two special modules on teen dating violence and sex education. You can learn the essence of each module through our parenting podcast Koshish, which offers an episode for each module. We also offer interactive learning workshops throughout the year for deeper learning.
To learn more in detail about these modules, please check our free podcast & download our healthy relationships practice workbook!
Please follow the calendar on this page to sign up for upcoming events & workshops. Each module & workshop is introduced as a parenting skill that can be learned and taught through evidence-based practices, in a manner that bears South Asian parenting and caregiving contexts in mind. SAPHAL's workshops are facilitated by a South Asian, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who has extensive experience facilitating community workshops.
